Headworx North East Surfing Championships
30th October 2002Headworx Europe is sponsoring the seventh and penultimate event on the Headworx BPSA UK Tour 2002. The event is the biggest surfing contest held in the area and attracts surfers from all over the UK to Cayton Bay, Scarborough North Yorkshire hoping to pick up valuable points and prize money.
The Headworx BPSA Tour is hotting up with Mark Harris and Alan Stokes both in contention for the title and prize money. Nathan Phillips is close behind and only requires the two front-runners to falter and he will also be in competing for the title. Other surfers that will have a bearing will include Llewellyn Whittaker and Stuart Leithead from South Africa who are now coming into form.
In addition to the Open, C-Skins Wetsuits will be staging the second event on the Longboard section of the BPSA tour. The first event, Fat face Longboard Open, was won by British Longboard Champion Ben Skinner.
Cayton Bay is a prime surf location in the North East with three different breaks providing quality waves, situated south of Scarborough, North Yorkshire. The Christian Surfers Association will be helping with the running of the event, their support and help is greatly appreciated by the organisers and surfers.
