Bronze for men’s gymnastics team

16th March 2006

A young Team England men’s gymnastics team tonight (Thursday) won bronze in the team competition at the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games.

The team of captain Ross Brewer, Ryan Bradley, Luke Folwell, Louis Smith and Kristian Thomas finished third behind Canada and Australia.

Brewer said he was pleased with the result. He said: “We’ve got a young team and we did very well tonight. It means a lot to me as captain this time.

“Every piece and every routine was clean, and that was our aim,” he added.

Eighteen-year-old Luke Folwell said: “I can’t really explain how it feels. Lots of emotions are running through you when you win a medal – I just can’t stop smiling.”

Ryan Bradley added: “It was a great performance. We did really well.”
