Cornish Firm Backs British Surfing

Carrs of Truro Volkswagen dealership is supporting the British Surfing Association (BSA) by providing a sponsored van for 12 months for involvement in national and international contests among other uses.

A Volkswagen Transporter has been presented to the association and this will be replaced in June by the new T5, the new generation of Volkswagen van being manufactured in Hanover and to be launched to the public in the same month.

At all events organised by the BSA, the sponsored vehicle will be present to provide transportation of equipment and personnel. It will also help provide transportation for the British team and their equipment to contests in the UK and overseas and will help with the daily running of the association.

Marketing Director of the BSA Karen Walton said “the sponsorship will be of invaluable benefit to the association”. Carrs commercial sales advisor Mike Atkin said “the new deal would reinforce Volkswagen’s long-running strong links with surfing and boost the BSA’s remarkable growth of recent years”.

“A lot of our customers are from the surfing community – either directly competing or supporting in various ways – and so we are very pleased to increase our own involvement in the sport in this way,” said Mr Atkin.

“The sponsorship confirms the popularity of Volkswagen vans among the surfing community. We are a company with our roots firmly located in Cornwall and we appreciate that surfing plays a big part in people’s lives here.”
