Disability Target Shooting Great Britain (DTSGB) is recruiting for a full time combined role of National Coach and Program Manager for its Performance Program.

The salary for the role will be £28,500 - £33,500 depending on experience and fully expensed.  Mileage is reimbursed at 25p/mile.  No pension is payable.  This is a full time position.

The role will be accountable to the DTSGB Association and stakeholders British Paralympic Performance Services and UK Sport.

The expectation is that the successful applicant will have the ability to coach Great Britain’s athletes and lead the disabled shooting performance program to gold medal success in the London 2012 Paralympic Games.  The role involves significant travel within Britain and overseas, including to the Beijing Paralympic Games and preparation/holding camps. The position is until March 2009 (the period of funding). Continuation will be subject to satisfactory performance in the role and continued funding.

The successful applicant will have a track record in coaching shooting athletes in either rifle or pistol disciplines at International level.  They will be able to demonstrate success at World Class Championship level, in either able bodied or disabled disciplines. 

Complementing high level coaching ability, the successful applicant will need to have the skills to lead the wider strategic and day-to-day management of the disability shooting performance program, supported by the British Paralympic Performance Services Sports Performance Manager and specialist staff.  This will involve, not exhaustively:

• Putting in place appropriate coaching programs and performance pathways for current athletes in the sport
• Identifying talent and attracting new athletes into the performance pathway
• Recruiting and managing appropriate specialist coaches and support staff
• Drafting of the 4 year strategic and operational plans for the sport
• Planning and managing the Performance Program Budget
