Kent team Kwiek threw korfball’s national league wide open on Sunday (7th Jan) by defeating south London team Trojans 11-8 to end the league’s last 100% record. Former Great Britain player Dave Buckland, holder of the record number of GB caps, did the damage with five goals.

Defending champions Mitcham bounced back from their pre-Christmas top-of-the-table defeat to Trojans by defeating Invicta Sharks 16-7 in a bad-tempered game.

These results mean that Mitcham, Trojans and Kwiek are now all level at the top of the table, each with five wins and one defeat. This is sure to make the second half of the season the most exciting national league in years.
