Garland honoured by Guernsey

University of Bath graduate Dale Garland has been honoured by being inducted to the Guernsey Sports Hall of Fame.
 
Garland, who has a degree in Sport and Exercise Science from the University, becomes the 15th athlete from the island to be added to the Guernsey Sports Commission’s list of Guernsey sporting heroes.
 
Other athletes on the list include footballer Matt Le Tissier, former world champion squash player Martine Le Moignan and three times world touring car champion Andy Priaulx.
 
Garland represented Guernsey in the decathlon at both the Manchester 2002 and Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games and was selected for the Team GB 4x400m relay squad for the Beijing 2008 Olympics.
 
He was presented with a caricature of himself at the Guernsey Sports Commission’s annual celebration of sport. It was presented by Ian Beattie of Carey Olsen, who sponsor the cerebration.
