It’s time for the boot camp – are you up to the challenge?

24th March 2009

There will be plenty of sweating, shouting and grunting when the high intensity boot camp workout arrives at the University of Bath on Monday 30th March.

Boot camp is a high intensity total body workout that is brilliant for losing fat, gaining strength and improving your endurance.

The TeamBath boot camp gets its launch with a FREE one-off mass fitness session at the University of Bath on Monday 30th March from 5.30pm to 6.30pm.

It takes place on the grass opposite the main entrance to the Sports Training Village – please meet in the Sports Training Village foyer.

The session is open to people of all fitness levels, but you must be aged 18 or over.

Led by Pete Ladlow, one of TeamBath’s own strength and conditioning coaches, the military-style workout is designed to challenge you mentally and physically in a highly motivated group environment.

“It’s a high intensity so it’s a great way of achieving your fitness goals very quickly,” said Pete. “A lot of people find it better psychologically to train in a group rather than on their own – people can spur each other on and it might mean they’re less likely to give up on some of the challenges.”

The session will feature a wide range of exercises that you can’t always do in a gym, including piggy back sprints, throwing medicine balls and a wide range of exercises involving a tractor tyre!

So if you’re brave enough to face up to the Boot Camp challenge – come along and give it a go at 5.30pm on Monday 30th March.

The session takes places outside and people are advised they may well get quite muddy, so please wear appropriate clothing for outside exercise.

The free session on Monday 30th March will be followed by regular boot camp sessions, initially on Monday evenings at 5.30pm at the highly competitive rate of just £3.95 per person, or £2.95 for University of Bath staff and students. Check the TeamBath website for further information.

Alternatively you can take out a fitness membership at TeamBath at £24 a month (£20 for university staff and students) entitling you to attend any of approximately 40 fitness classes held at the Sports Training Village a week.
