Freeman-Pask strike bronze
1st June 2009University of Bath graduate Adam Freeman-Pask set Britain on course for a terrific weekend at the opening rowing World Cup of the year.
Freeman-Pask won Britain’s first medal of the weekend – a bronze in the lightweight men’s single scull in Saturday’s final at Banyoles in Spain.
He had to do it the hard way, battling through the repechage after finishing fourth in his heat.
But he went on to finish second in his semi and then pushed hard in the second half of the final to move up from fourth place to take bronze, winning his first senior international medal.
"I had a bit of a ropey heat but a good repechage and that gave me the confidence going into the final,” he said. "It's a bit scary to get a medal with all these big names around.”
Freeman-Pask trained under Paul Stannard while studying at the University, from which he graduated with a degree in Natural Sciences in 2006.
