Northern Ireland’s most successful karate athlete, former three times world champion, David Brashaw from Newtownards has just returned from world karate championships Odessa, Ukraine with another medal.
At the WUKF world championships which took place at the weekend David claimed a word silver in the veteran’s Wado-Ryu kata event, missing out on gold by the smallest possible margin, .1, to the Hungarian, Tamas Major.
The event in itself was a fantastic success attracting over 600 competitors from nearly 70 worldwide associations.
A delighted David commented 'This was the highest standard of world karate competition I have participated in over the last ten years. It was a great event to flag up why karate should be included as an Olympic sport to the International Olympic Committee. I am absolutely over the moon to bring another world medal home to Northern Ireland.'
