A great day was had by all at the Y11 Girls National Finals on Saturday 4th July 2009 at West Glebe Park Pavilion in Corby.
Corby Radio Station attended the event and helped create a great atmosphere with programme announcements, live music and fantastic entertainment. A fitness drive was also held which provided people with the opportunity to find out their Body Mass Index, offered support on how to stop smoking and other fitness advice.
Eleven school teams played their hearts out to make it through to the finals including Our Lady High School, Manchester; Emmanuel, Nottingham; Compton House, Manchester; County Upper, Essex; Manor School, Northants; Aston Comprehensive School, Rotherham; Abbeydale Grange, Sheffield; Camden School, London; St. Bedes, Manchester; King Edward, Birmingham and Bosworth School, Leicester.
The final was played between last years winners Compton House and Aston Comprehensive School. In a nail biting final by two great sporting teams Aston Comprehensive School clinched victory by 3 Rounders to Compton House’s 2 Rounders.
The Lord Mayor of Corby presented the children with trophies in recognition of their hard work and achievements.
