Who would’ve thought it, playing Rounders in the winter? Well, the Hull Works Sports Association Rounders league started playing Indoor Rounders on Sunday 22nd November. We’ll play every Sunday (7 – 9pm) until March at the Haltemprice Leisure Centre in Anlaby on the outskirts of Hull.
Seven teams have joined the league and lots of new Rounders players are enjoying the new indoor game. There are six players in a team with three substitutes. The pitch dimensions are slightly reduced, to meet the space inside the sports hall. We use a soft ball, so that we don’t damage the walls and ceiling.
If you think fielding is tricky in the outdoor game, wait until you try catching the ball indoors. The ball bounces off the wall and if it hits an alcove it can fly off in crazy directions!
If you like Rounders, you’ll enjoy the indoor game.
Thanks to support from the Hull Works Sports Association and a grant of £500 from Rounders England, we are able to afford the initial start up costs of creating this new league.
If you would like to join us, you’ll be very welcome. It costs just £2 per player, per weekly match. Contact Pauline for more information.
