On Saturday April 17th all junior England squads played in friendly training matches against each other in Sheffield. The U16 National team arrived well prepared and ready to perform well; thankfully the weather was perfect for Rounders.
Led by new captain Olivia Major and her vice Leah Fenning the team played some at times extraordinary Rounders with great confidence, respect and high technical skill. Victories against the U14’s and U16’s were fully deserved and a narrow defeat to the U18’s has given the whole team a lift with the forthcoming internationals. Great individual play contributed to the day, in particular Jess Wright playing at 1st post, something she has never done before.
Of course these days are not just about the Rounders, the girls got to show off their new kit and also their ability to find entertainment in all rounders related things from flags, bats and raffle prizes!! There was even time for birthday cake.
I coach a bunch of clowns – but wouldn’t have it any other way.
