Squad Shaping Up

The listing was posted by Scottish Disability Sport 2

The SDS National Bowls squad will travel to Nottingham in July for an indoor Home Nations Bowls Match against England and Wales. The event is part of a Home Country Development Games being organised by Cerebral Palsy Sport England and Wales. The competition format will be similar to that being used at the IBD world championships in South Africa in 2011.
The Scottish team has prepared well and is reaching the stage where the team is about to be announced. Head Coach Bob Dick has once again used skills tests to reduce the squad down to a short list of physically disabled and visually impaired players. Bob has been ably assisted by Coach Ron McArthur and SDS Performance Manager Ruari Davidson.
A number of squad members were part of the Scottish team that finished behind South Africa and Australian the last World championships in Sydney and there is determination within the team to go at least one place better. Many were part of the Scottish team that successfully defeated England in the Third Bowls Test Match at Beveridge Park in Kirkcaldy in July 2009.
The 2010 squad has been greatly strengthened by the inclusion of new members like Alex Ainslie, Gary Brown, Kevin Wallace, John Hughes, Billy Edgar and Irene Murray. There is a feeling in the camp that this is the strongest Scottish squad to date and they will travel south with hopes of a first Home Nations indoor victory away from home.
