K3 Games take place on Friday
7th June 2010The fourth Bath and North East Somerset K3 Games will be hosted at the University of Bath on Friday 11 June. This year’s event is supported by RELAYS, The Regional Educational Legacy in Arts and Youth Sport, funded by the Legacy Trust and HEFCE (Higher Education Funding Council England) through Universities South West. The event has brought together the delivery partners of the University of Bath, West of England Sports Trust (WESPORT), Bath School Sport Partnerships and Bath and North East Somerset Council’s Sport and Active Leisure team to provide a festival of sport for secondary school pupils across the area partnership.
Over four hundred pupils will be invited to experience a multi-sport event, this year with an opening ceremony and parade of athletes. The athletes will have the opportunity to try sports such as floor ball, lacrosse, X-biking, ultimate Frisbee, trampolining, tennis, badminton, basketball and Futsal.
This year’s event will be delivered by the Bath School Sports Partnerships’ Leadership Academy and the young leaders will oversee the whole day including making a documentary of the event. The experience of leading a multi-sport festival will add valuable skills to their developing portfolios.
Jess Clements, Sports Development Officer, said: “The K3 Games has become a fixture in the schools calendar, an exciting multi-sport event bringing together many partners to provide sporting opportunities and club links to hundreds of pupils. This year’s event being led by the leadership academy will be a new experience for us all and hopefully an inspiration to all that take part.”
The K3 Games will be hosted at the University of Bath from 9am-4pm on the 11 June 2010.

The facilities at the University are second to none and inspire excellence and respect which are key Olympic values. The young people will have the opportunities to participate in the sports beyond the event through a comprehensive programme of community sport supported by Bath and North East Somerset Council.”
