Moray Junior Curling Club....”A GRAND DAY OUT”

2 intrepid rinks one under 15 and the other under 13 (ably supported by drivers and supportive parents) left Elgin at the crack of dawn on the 31st October to make the long trip to Forfar to compete in the SALCS regional Funspiel which is supported by the RCCC.
Teams from Aberdeen and Forfar made up the field and each team played each other in a round robin format.
Some excellent shot making was in evidence and the standard of play was of a high standard in no small measure helped by very keen and swingy ice.

Results were as follows.

Under 13’s beat Forfar but lost to Aberdeen....the Elgin team losing out on overall success on ends at the end of the day...congratulations to the team as for 3 out of the 4 it was their first competitive away fixture.

Under 15’s lost their first game to Forfar but then turned in a great performance to beat the Aberdeen team andbecause of a greater number of ends won took home thesilverware and have in turn qualified for the nationalfinals in Aberdeen on the 5th March 2011.

Both teams then competed admirably in the various hot shot competitions just missing out on medals there as well.

So a bit of history for the Moray Junior Curling Club...there first competition wins. Great stuff!!
This is a great boost for the Club and of course the Development Group.
However most importantly it again suggests the junior club is moving forward very well.

Thanks to all who contributed to the success of the day the competitors did themselves proud and I am sure appreciated the time given willingly by the development group staff and of course the parents who accompanied the teams.
Surprisingly then the journey back home did not seem so arduous
