Smiles all round at BRC Championships

23rd September 2011

Riders from the far reaches of Great Britain and Northern Ireland congregated on the Lincolnshire Showground for the recent British Riding Clubs National Championships.

The National Championships, sponsored by NAF, is the largest in the Riding Clubs calendar with more than 1,000 horses and riders competing in a variety of classes including Dressage and Show Jumping.

For Rochdale and District Riding Club it was a weekend to remember with the club taking four team titles and a number of individual placings. The team, under the guidance of team manager Penny Ridley, were delighted with their success.

Another club taking multiple titles was Cwmaman from West Wales, which is one of the smallest BRC clubs with a membership of fewer than 50. They took both the Senior Open Dressage Team Championship and the Junior Riding Test Team title.

The Junior Intermediate Showjumping title was reclaimed by Cropthorne and Evesham Vale, a trophy which they have won three times in four years.

In total more than 30 national champions were crowned throughout the weekend.
