National Championships set to grow in 2013
13th Septemeber 2012Triathlon England is pleased to announce seven Triathlon England - National Championships for the 2013 season, as the Governing Body strives to grow their Championship portfolio and provide participation opportunities across the sport for its members.
The increased number of Triathlon England - National Championships reflects the increasing popularity and growth of the sport. The seven events are expected to attract over 5,000 athletes to take part in one or more Championships as they strive to be crowned English Champions in their favourite discipline.
The 2013 calendar includes the famous Club Relay Championships, which are held annually at the National Water Sports Centre in Nottingham. The event, which was previously a British Championships, will become the largest of all Triathlon England – National Championships hosting over 2,000 athletes.

The 2013 programme comprises the leading age-group events from across the country. Each event has demonstrated the highest quality event management and provided competitors with the opportunity to achieve their personal triathlon challenges in a safe and enjoyable environment.
Duncan Hough, Triathlon England Director for Events, Rules and Technical commented on the growing Triathlon England calendar: “We have been really pleased with the large response from organisers interested in hosting Triathlon England – National Championships and believe we have selected some really strong events for 2013; there really is something for all our members with such a wide range of Championship Events.”
A new inclusion on the calendar is the introduction of cross duathlon, which will be organised by Multi Sport Management in October 2013, organiser Graham Lee commented: “Cross Duathlon will prove to be an excellent addition to the Triathlon England - National Championships calendar. This will be the first event we have hosted for Triathlon England and we will do our very best to ensure all competitors have a great day of off-road racing.”
