GB ready for Fed Cup tie

18th April 2013

The Aegon GB Fed Cup Team are in Buenos Aires where Captain Judy Murray, British No.1 Laura Robson and Fed Cup veteran Elena Baltacha speak ahead of the forthcoming Fed Cup by BNP Paribas World Group II Great Britain v Argentina Play-off tie.

Judy Murray:

We are delighted to be here in Argentina and obviously we hope we win the tie. The Argentines have the advantage of playing at home and on clay which would be their preferred surface, so for us that’s a challenge. We have a very strong team, we have strength and depth I hope that it will be a good match as I hope that we will come out on top.

It’s disappointing for Heather that she couldn’t make the trip with us, we hope that she will be back soon and we hope we can get the job done with the team we have. You always miss a player ranked around 40 in the world and we wish her a speedy recovery.

I won’t be revealing who’s playing until the draw on Friday (at 10am local time).

Laura Robson

Laura Robson:

I have been practicing on clay since Miami, so I have had a few weeks now to get used to it and played a tournament on clay in Charleston, so I’m feeling pretty comfortable. I always enjoy playing Fed Cup and we have a lot of fun during the week.

I played my first tournament since my foot surgery in October, last week in the States and I had chances to win that match. I’m feeling good and very excited to play Fed Cup and be part of the team here in Argentina.
