Laura Robson defeats Venus Williams in Rome

British No.1 Laura Robson has defeated seven-time Grand Slam champion Venus Williams in the opening round of the Internazionali BNL d'Italia.
World number 39 Robson, broke the American's serve on six occasions on the clay courts in Rome to win 6-3, 6-2. In round two Robson will meet Venus' sister Serena, the world No.1.
Meanwhile in the doubles Robson teams up with American Lisa Raymond.
Elsewhere British doubles duo Jonny Marray & Dominic Inglot battled past Americans John Isner & Sam Querrey 7-5, 6-7(8), 12-10 in the their opening round match, while in the singles Andy Murray faces Marcel Granollers after receiving a bye into round two.
