England Youth international signs with the Claret and Gold

8th July 2014

Huddersfield Giants are pleased to announce the signing of current Giants 16’s Academy player and England Youth international Izaac Farrell on a two year professional contract.

Sixteen year old Izaac Farrell is a half back who plays for Newsome Panthers community club as well as England. He follows in similar footsteps to Michael Lawrence and Leroy Cudjoe who also came through the Panthers Youth system. Izaac is the latest England Youth international following the signing of Matty English last week.

Huddersfield Giants Player Performance Manager commented on Izaac Farrell’s signing:

“It’s really exciting to have Izaac Farrell signed up and I think it’s another clear statement from the Club that they are willing to develop good, local talent and we are really looking forward to working with him.

“We are excited about being able to nurture Izaac’s ability to play the game. There is no doubt that he is talented and that his skills with the ball are very good but we see Izaac as a real project for us moving forwards. Half backs are few and far between to find so we will be working really hard with him over the next couple of years to get him to where we know he can be.

“We have made our intentions clear as a Club and a Youth Department and in particular Izaac and the signing of Matty English last week are real coups for us and hopefully there will be more to follow.”

Head of Youth Development Andy Kelly also commented:

“I felt it was important that we backed up the signing of Matty English with another quality signing. Izaac is a member of the England Youth squad and has been selected for the forthcoming game against Wales.

“I’ve enjoyed working with him so far and in doing so you can see the potential in him to go further. It’s another exciting signing and it just shows the investment of the Club in the Youth Department.”
