Great Britain¹s number one Downhill skier

18th March 2004

Great Britain's number one Downhill skier, Finlay Mickel (26, from Edinburgh), repeated yesterday's success with another second place at today¹s (18/03/04) French National Ski Championships in Flaine.

Mickel took silver behind French number-one, Antoine Deneriaz, putting him in good stead for next weeks British Land National Ski Championships in Meribel. "Deneriaz went faster today but I was able to control the stress. I should now move closer to ranking top 40 in the world," said Mickel.

As well as defending his downhill title, Mickel is aiming to be the British Overall Champion. This looks to be an exciting event and will put him in competition with top technical skiers - the Baxter brothers.
