Five new championship records as one lap specialists shine at Bergen 2025
20th July 2025Every one lap final - men's and women's 400m and 400m hurdles - was won in a new championship record and Audrey Werro scorched to another superb championship best in winning the 800m on a sensational third day at Bergen 2025 on Saturday (19).
Norway's Henriette Jaeger has been the face of the championships and she blazed to a superb victory in the women's 400m, before being pipped by Britain's Success Eduan for 200m gold.
There were three Dutch gold medals on the track with Jonas Phijffers (men's 400m), Stefan Nillessen (men's 1500m) and Niels Laros (men's 5000m) winning in quick succession.
Two sensational 400m hurdles finals won by Britain's Emily Newnham and Germany's Owe Fischer-Breiholz in championship records, the latter removing world record holder Karsten Warholm's mark from eight years ago.
European leader Audrey Werro of Switzerland produced a magnificent display to win the women's 800m and there was a gritty 3000m steeplechase win by Ilona Mononen of Finland.
There was a Serbian double with Adriana Vilagos and Angelina Topic winning in superb style in the women's javelin and high jump respectively.
Also In the field, Ukraine's Artur Felfer, Germany's Tizian Lauria and Italy's Simone Bertelli won the men's javelin, men's shot and men's pole vault titles. Earlier in the day, Italy's Alexandrina Mihai won the women's 10,000m race walk title.
Relays and superstar ready to shine on final day from Bergen 2025
The thrilling relays and proven champions Niels Laros, Stefan Nillessen, Henriette Jaeger and Saga Vanninen will highlight a packed final day of action from the European Athletics U23 Championships in Bergen on Sunday (20).
