12th March 2026The 2026 European Throwing Cup lands in Nicosia, Cyprus this weekend (14–15 March) — and you can watch every throw live from 09:00 CET both days on the European Athletics website.
As Europe’s top throwers begin their outdoor campaigns and start the road toward the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham (10–16 August 2026), the competition promises two days of world-class clashes featuring Olympic, World and European medallists.
One of the headline battles will see 2022 European champion Elina Tzengko (GRE) take on twice European silver medallist Adriana Vilagoš (SRB).
The pair have been pushing each other since filling the top two places at the Munich 2022 European Athletics Championships and arrive in Nicosia ready to open their 2026 seasons in style.
The men’s hammer brings together Paris 2024 Olympic silver and bronze medallists Bence Halasz (HUN) and Mykhailo Kokhan (UKR) in what promises to be one of the competitions of the weekend.
With both athletes capable of surpassing the 80-metre barrier, a huge winning throw could be required in Nicosia.
There are multiple other champions and record-holders across the fields, including:
- Sara Fantini (ITA), the defending European champion, leads a deep women’s hammer field
- Vanessa Kamga (SWE) returns to defend her women’s discus title after a breakthrough season that included a national record and fourth place at the World Athletics Championships
- Jessica Inchude (POR) is chasing a third European Throwing Cup shot put title
