Have your say and vote for the European Athletics Athlete of the Month for April 2026!
Following an outstanding month of performances—highlighted by the World Athletics Race Walking Team Championships in Brasilia, major European road races and winter throws competitions —we’re inviting fans to choose their top athletes from a shortlist of five women and five men.
Voting is open now and closes at 23:59 CET on 11 May, with the winners announced in the following days across European Athletics social media channels.
Last month’s winners set the bar high, with Great Britain’s Keely Hodgkinson (championship record) and Switzerland's Simon Ehammer (world record) both winning golds at the World Athletics Indoor Championships.
Women’s Athlete of the Month nominees
- Sofia Fiorini (ITA) - Marathon silver medallist at the World Race Walking Team Championships, led Italy to marathon silver in the team race
- Amalie Hammild Iuel (NOR) - World 400m hurdles lead of 54.12 at the Kip Keino Classic in Nairobi
- Klara Lukan (SLO) - European 10km record of 29:50 for victory in Laredo, first European to break the 30 minute-barrier for 10km
- Domenika Mayer (GER) - Hannover Marathon winner in 2:21:26, second fastest German marathon runner in history
- Jorinde van Klinken (NED) - Dutch discus record of 70.99m in Ramona
Men’s Athlete of the Month nominees
- Bashir Abdi (BEL) - Third in the Rotterdam Marathon in a European lead of 2:04:19
- Yemaneberhan Crippa (ITA) - Paris Marathon winner in 2:05:18, first European winner of the men's race in Paris since 2003
- Francesco Fortunato (ITA) - Half marathon winner at the World Race Walking Team Championships
- Jimmy Gressier (FRA) - European 5km record of 12:51 in Lille, second on the world all-time 5km list
- Steven Richter (GER) - Fourth on the world all-time discus list with 74.00m in Ramona
