Novuna GB & NI Team Announced For The 2026 European 10,000m Cup

by 11th May 2026

UK Athletics has confirmed the selection of eight athletes to represent the Novuna Great Britain and Northern Ireland team (GB & NI) at the 2026 European 10,000m Cup, taking place in La Spezia, Italy, on Saturday 23 May.

The team has been selected based on the performance aim to maximise medal success and development opportunities.

Off the back of a great cross-country season, finishing 6th at last year’s European Cross Country Championships in the men's U23 race, Matt Ramsden (Blackburn Harriers & AC, Edmund Finucane) will be aiming for a great start to his senior track season in Italy.

After a brief break from elite competition to focus on having a family, Jess Martin (Ryde Harriers) returns to the GB team. The Rio Olympian has shown great form after running a new road 10k personal best of 31:56 earlier this year in Valencia.

The 5k and 10k 2026 BUCS champion, Charlotte Dannatt (Camberley & District AC, Kyle Bennett) will earn her first senior international vest, recently setting a new road personal best in the 10k.

Joining the women’s team, Lizzie Wellsted (Colchester Harriers AC) steps up to the senior level at just 19 years of age. This championship will be her senior debut alongside Lucy Jones (Herne Hill Harriers) and Holly Weedall (Vale Royal AC, Dean Miller).

Team Leader, Dean Miller said; “I'm so excited we’ve been able to select a team with a blend of experience, senior debuts and emerging talent. La Spezia 2026 presents a rare 10,000m opportunity for athletes to go and challenge themselves against international level competition.

“Those selected can contend for team and individual honours, whilst presenting an important development opportunity for emerging talent which could be a springboard to major championship success in the future.”
