Tranchard and Wyder blaze a trail at Ljublana-Kamnik 2026
by 7th June 2026
Experience was the key to victory as France's Frederic Tranchand and Switzerland's Judith Wyder took home gold medals in the trail races at the Ljubljana-Kamnik European Athletics Off-Road Running Championships in Slovenia on Saturday (5).
Tranchard added European gold to the world title he secured last year in the men's race and Wyder, a world and European orienteering gold medallist, won the women's title with brilliant runs on the gruelling 52km discipline.
There were also individual medals for Italy, Spain and Sweden as France took the men's team title ahead of Poland and Spain. Switzerland won the women's team title ahead of France and Spain.
The European Athletics Off-Road Championships are being live streamed on the European Athletics YouTube channel.
You can re-live the whole of the day's action or get set to watch the mountain races on the final day of action on Sunday (7).
