Records obliterated in Rieti

The Rieti 2026 European Athletics Championships caught fire on Saturday with a phenomenal record smashing day in the Italian sun.
There were SEVEN championship records, THREE European U18 leads, ONE European U18 bests on a never-to-be-forgotten day in Rieti including:
- Superb high jump performance from Sam James (GBR)
- Brilliant 400m victories for Slovakia and Greece
- Discus glory for Great Britain and Cyprus
- Last gasp victories in the men's shot and men's long jump
- Thrilling distance victories for Spain, France and Germany
- Dramatic 200m wins for Great Britain and Spain
- A controversial climax to the men's 800m final
- Long jump glory for Czechia and pole vault gold for Germany
