Records and shocks on final day from Rieti 2026

A sensational performance by Czechia's Linda Botková to break a 43-year-old European U20 record was the final highlight as the Rieti 2026 European Athletics Championships came to a stunning climax on Sunday (19).
Great Britain finished on top of the medal table with 14 medals, including 8 gold, ahead of Czechia with 13 medals (6 gold) and Spain with 15 medals (4 gold)
In total, there were an incredible 17 championship records, 12 World U18 leads, 24 European U18 leads, 1 European U20 record, 3 European U18 bests and 100 National U18 bests across four days of sensational sport.
The final day lived up to all expectations and featured:
- Triple jump glory for Great Britain and Bulgaria
- Javelin joy for Great Britain and Finland
- Endurance ecstacy for Switzerland, Spain, Italy, Slovenia and Great Britain
- Jumps for joy for France and Poland
