The Full Novuna GB & NI Team Announced For World Athletics U20 Championships

UK Athletics can announce the full team list for the Novuna Great Britain and Northern Ireland (GB & NI) team heading to the World Athletics U20 Championships in Eugene, Oregon later this summer.
Thirty-six names were announced earlier this month, with the final selections making up a full team of forty-nine. The aim of creating a competitive team of athletes who have the potential to achieve a top-eight finish in their event at the World Athletics U20 Championships.
Four athletes have been selected as part of the 4x100m men’s relay squad. Matthew Ajayi (club: Watford Harriers) and Ethan Franklin (Woodford Green AC with Essex Ladies, Gladys Bird) were both part of the Novuna GB & NI U20 team that competed in the men's 4x100m relay at the recent Novuna London Athletics Meet. That relay team currently holds the world U20-leading ranking.
Also selected for the 4x100m mixed relay is Divine Iheme (Radley Athletic Club, Nkiruka Iheme), who recently won the European U18 men's 100m title in Rieti, breaking the championship record in the process. Savannah Morgan-McKenzie (Rugby & Northampton AC, Matthew Thomas) also joins the squad, having been part of the victorious relay team at the Mannheim International Gala earlier this year.
Lucas Cameron (Tonbridge AC) and Noa Chodokufa (Woodford Green AC with Essex Ladies, Paul Franklin) have been selected for the mixed 4x400m relay squad after impressive performances at the European U18 Championships, where both reached their respective 400m finals. Luc MacLeod (Glasgow Jaguars T&F Club, Robert Macleod) brings additional international 4x400m relay experience after competing at the Mannheim International Gala.
Caitlin Hadfield (Derby Athletic Club), Shiloh Omotosho (Basildon AC, Sarah Robinson) and Camiah Bennett (Coventry Godiva Harriers, James Wright) are also selected, with the women forming part of the U20 women's 4x400m relay squad that currently leads the world rankings.
Samuel James (Kingston AC and Poly Harriers, James Wild) has also been selected for the high jump following his outstanding performance at the European U18 Championships in Italy, where he set a championship record and world U18-leading mark of 2.25m. The clearance also equalled the British U18 record, which has stood since 1990 and placed him top three at World U20s level.
It has also been confirmed that already-selected Thea Brown (Sale Harriers Manchester, Ashley Bryant) will compete solely in the heptathlon, having also achieved eligibility for the 100m hurdles and long jump.
